At Beyond the Box Psychology, we recognise that people are more than the labels, diagnoses, experiences and expectations that have shaped their lives.
We believe meaningful psychological work begins with understanding the whole person, not simply identifying a problem.
We work collaboratively with individuals and organisations to develop deeper understanding, recognise strengths, make sense of challenges and move beyond the boxes that may be limiting progress.

Psychological assessment can provide valuable insight, understanding and direction.
We offer specialist assessment services including autism/ADHD, personality and forensic risk assessment.
At Beyond the Box Psychology, assessment is never solely about assigning a diagnosis, score or label. Whilst diagnoses can be important and empowering for many people, we believe they are only one part of understanding an individual. Every assessment is formulation-driven, meaning we seek to understand individual stories and not only what difficulties may be present, but also the person's life experiences, strengths, relationships, values, coping strategies and the wider context.
Assessments are conducted in a collaborative, respectful and neuro-affirming manner, recognising that people are far more than any diagnosis, risk factor or category they may be placed within.

Psychological therapy provides an opportunity for people to make sense of past experiences and develop new ways of moving forward.
We offer evidence-based psychological interventions tailored to each individual's unique needs, experiences and goals. Therapeutic approaches include:
Our therapeutic work is collaborative, compassionate and formulation-driven. Rather than applying a standardised approach, we work alongside clients to understand the factors that have shaped their experiences, identify meaningful goals and support lasting change. Whether someone is navigating trauma, emotional difficulties, identity challenges, life transitions or offending-related concerns, therapy is tailored to each individual journey.

Our resources have been developed to support understanding, reflection and growth, helping people move beyond labels and towards a richer understanding of themselves and others.
Designed for individuals, professionals, families and organisations, our resources encourage reflection, conversation, learning and growth.
Our resources can be used independently for personal development, within therapy and coaching, as part of psychoeducation, during assessment processes, in supervision, team meetings, workshops, training environments or to support conversations between family members, partners and friends.
Each resource has been created with the belief that people are more than the boxes they have been placed in. By encouraging curiosity, understanding and self-reflection, our resources aim to support individuals and organisations to develop deeper insight into themselves and others.

Beyond the Box Psychology offers consultancy services to support organisations to think 'beyond the box'.
This may involve support in developing cultures that reflect their values and meet the needs of the people they serve. We work collaboratively with organisations to review systems, policies, practices and workplace culture through a psychological lens.
Organisations often aspire to be trauma-informed, neuro-affirming and psychologically safe environments, but translating these values into everyday practice can be challenging. Consultancy may focus on developing trauma-informed practice, improving understanding of neurodiversity, supporting staff wellbeing, enhancing psychological safety, reviewing service pathways or supporting organisational change. Our aim is not simply to provide recommendations, but to work alongside organisations to create and embed meaningful change.
Training can be delivered as a standalone service or as part of a wider consultancy package. We offer a training needs analysis service to identify learning priorities and can develop bespoke programmes tailored to the needs of individual organisations.
